Community life and citizenship

Martine BELDOR, territorial councilor in charge of associative life within the Human Development and Citizenship delegation, chaired by the 3rd vice-president Dominique LOUISY, received the press, Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in order to take stock of the actions carried out since 2022 in favor of supporting the associative network and to officially open the campaign of subsidies to associations, for the 2025 financial year.

With the aim of supporting the 6 Neighborhood Councils in the area, the Community Life and Citizenship Department, under the leadership of the 3rd Vice-President Dominique LOUISY, has initiated training courses designed to provide concrete support to members of the neighborhood councils who have a direct link with the residents of their neighborhoods.

Since the implementation of the organic law of February 21, 2007, the Collectivité of Saint-Martin has had neighborhood councils, organizations representative of local democracy. There are 6 neighborhood councils on the island whose members were officially installed on March 12, 2024 for the duration of the 2022-2027 electoral mandate. They are places for discussion and reflection on life in the neighborhood and the means implemented to improve the living environment of residents. They are a source of proposals for the territorial council.

The Collectivité de Saint-Martin invites associations in the territory to register for the 2025 Volunteer Gala, which will take place on Friday, January 31, 2025 on the theme of African chic.
