The Collectivité initiates training for Neighborhood Councils
With the aim of supporting the 6 Neighborhood Councils in the area, the Community Life and Citizenship Department, under the leadership of the 3rd Vice-President Dominique LOUISY, has initiated training courses designed to provide concrete support to members of the neighborhood councils who have a direct link with the residents of their neighborhoods.
On Friday, September 20, 2024, the Collectivité gave neighborhood councilors the opportunity to meet by videoconference with the trainers who will be responsible for supporting members of participatory bodies in professionalizing their missions.
An opportunity for the thirty members present to exchange with Mr. Joris DARPHIN, the founder of the National Network of Neighborhood Councils and Mrs. Anne BEAUMONT, member of the Network and trainer for many years. Through this first contact, they were able to answer questions and share their experience.
The National Network of Neighborhood Councils is an association of collective intelligence facilitators who offer training to members of neighborhood councils, community agents and elected officials on topics related to the functioning of institutions. The training sessions are open to all members of Neighborhood Councils.
The program is divided into 4 face-to-face 3-hour sessions, according to the following schedule:
· Tuesday, October 15, 2024 , from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the CCISM at Concordia: the role and purpose of CDQs and the major issues of participation.
· Wednesday, October 16, 2024 , from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the CCISM in Concordia: collective organization (who does what, how to organize together) - governance and decision-making.
· Thursday, October 17, 2024 , from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the CCISM in Concordia: lead participatory meetings.
· Friday, October 18, 2024 , from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the CCISM at Concordia: diversify participation with “going towards”, and create partnerships.
These training courses are intended to develop a common culture and to increase skills on issues of participatory democracy, cooperation, governance and collective organization. They also help to clarify the purpose of Neighborhood Councils, their role and that of volunteer members, and to define the contours of democratic participation. Among the other themes covered in training, collective decision-making, conflict management, project mode, leading participatory meetings or creating networks and partnerships are all learning opportunities offered to neighborhood councilors.
An initiative supported by the 3rd Vice-President Dominique LOUISY who has committed to providing neighborhood councils with all the support necessary to operate and meet the needs of residents.
