The European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) is one of four European structural investment funds dedicated to the development, competitiveness and attractiveness of regions.
What is the EMFF?
The European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) is one of four European structural investment funds dedicated to financing projects linked to fisheries and aquaculture.
It responds to the EU's cohesion policy, which consists of harmonizing the EU's regions by reducing economic, social and territorial development gaps.
The objective of the EMFF is to support the development of projects aimed at strengthening quality local food production, increasing the competitiveness of businesses (by modernizing ships and aquaculture installations and installing young sailors – fishermen and aquaculturists) and by inserting fishing and aquaculture into the local territorial environment (through better knowledge of the environments).
In which areas does the EMFF intervene?
The EMFF intervenes on European and regional themes previously defined in a framework document called the Operational Program (OP). An envelope of 769,196 euros is allocated to Saint-Martin to implement the regional component of this OP for the period 2014-2020.
