Associative life: intensive support for associations
The Collectivité of Saint Martin, in partnership with the Fondation de France and Unite Caribbean, supported, over the period 2023/2024, the implementation of a system aimed at structuring and strengthening the skills of those involved in the associative life of Saint -Martin.
Develop their associative missions and sustain their actions for the benefit of the common good.
Mrs. Martine BELDOR, territorial advisor in charge of community life, presented the actions carried out as part of this service and shared the results of this system in favor of the people of Saint-Martin and community action in the region.
The Collectivité of Saint-Martin implements a real policy of development and support for community life around five axes:
- Support, structuring, skills development and training of associative actors;
- Promotion of community life;
- Valorization of volunteering;
- Encouragement of citizen engagement;
- Support for networking among associative actors.

Among the 2024 projects:
- The new edition of the 2024-25 association directory
- The back-to-school seminar on associative sharing
- The great forum of associations with thematic villages
- The Volunteer Gala at the end of the year
"By intervening in a complementary manner to public action, associations play a major role in local life. As such, they are essential partners of the Collectivité and the State in the implementation of territorial public policies", recalled Martine Beldor who continues with the associative life teams the actions of structuring and supporting associations.
Funding of nearly €4M for associations
Ms. Beldor publicly praised the Fondation de France and Unite Caribbean for the work carried out so far alongside the Collectivité, as well as the association representatives and volunteers, “shadow actors who are doing tremendous work on the ground in favor of social cohesion.
The Collectivité provides funding of nearly €4M to associations each year, with the help of the European Social Fund (ESF), to promote animation and support for the public.
Ms. Beldor also thanked the teams from the community life and citizenship department for the work accomplished over the last two years.
