Citizenship Week: 17 young people visit the territorial institution

This week, the CLSPD security prevention mission is offering a programme of visits to 17 young people from priority neighbourhoods of the city's policy, Sandy Ground and the Orléans district, to enable them to discover the institutions of the area.

After being welcomed at the CCISM, the prefecture and the gendarmerie at the beginning of the week, it was the turn of the vice-president Dominique Louisy , this Thursday, to receive the young people at the town hall and to present her role as an elected representative of the Republic.

A fruitful exchange and an opportunity for the Vice-President in charge of citizenship to explain the importance of keeping up with current events and getting involved in the life of the city. The Vice-President also took the time to discuss the fundamentals of citizenship and the framework that results from it.

The administrative staff then took over to explain to the young people how the collectivité works. The Director of Public Services Thierry Gombs and the Director of Road Safety Myriame Merlo-Cirilie spoke, as did the Acting DGS Paul Dollin and the DGA Security Thierry Verres, as well as the Director General's project manager, Myrna Nicolas.

From birth certificates to marriage certificates, from voter registration to traffic regulations, young people received information enabling them to better understand the institution, its legal framework and their own role in society.

They then visited the city hall, guided by the Chief of Staff Faridah Francius and the Director of Communication Nathalie LongatoRey. The rooms of the territorial council and the executive council, the functioning of the bodies and the office of the president no longer hold any secrets for them.

A citizen initiative led by the Collectivité's CLSPD Security Prevention Mission, Henoc Patrick and his team of mediators, whose networking work on the ground is starting to bear fruit and is producing very encouraging results.

Many thanks to the Centre Symphorien d’insertion association, Ms. Rousseau, for her support on this project.

Tomorrow, the young people will visit the courthouse.
