Celebration of Saint Barbe: thanks to our firefighters and creation of the STIS of Saint-Martin
President Louis Mussington and Prefect Vincent Berton visited the fire station to celebrate St. Barbara. Protector of firefighters, St. Barbara, according to legend, was able to defend her convictions and her faith, even in the darkest moments.

With this image, the president praised the commitment of the firefighters: "You hold a special place in the hearts of the inhabitants and we are proud of what you do. I would like to salute here your dedication and your bravery."
The barracks are currently under construction, the collectivité is investing 1.9 million euros in this renovation project managed by the Living Environment and Ecological Transition delegation, which is taking place in two phases:
• The rehabilitation consists of installing cladding on the facade, installing a central air conditioner in the living areas, redoing the electricity, windows and partitions, using eco-responsible materials to save energy.
• The second phase (2025) will consist of building extensions to house the training room and the call center, as well as crossings for cleaning vehicles.
The territorial council of December 19 will be called upon to decide on the signing of a one-year agreement between the Collectivité and the SDIS of Guadeloupe which will allow preparation of the transition, before the commissioning of the new STIS of Saint-Martin in January 2026.
The president thanked the technicians involved in this project, the legal services of the Collectivité, the SDIS of Guadeloupe, the services of the prefecture and the central fire services of the State, who worked hand in hand on this project.
The new Saint-Martin fire and rescue service will be operational in 2026.
