As every year, the major risks department and the collectivité 's operational delegations are working together to prepare for the start of the next hurricane season.

General needs and technical and preventive aspects are thus reviewed before taking stock with State services, satellite organizations of the collectivité and crisis management partners.

The hurricane season begins on June 1 and ends on November 30 each year.

From June, the population is called upon to find out about the risk of cyclones, to prepare and to carry out the necessary cleaning and stocks.

Everyone must be prepared for the peak of the season, from August to November.

From June, the collectivité will disseminate, with the support of the media, the list of useful information:

  • Preparations to be made
  • Stocks to be carried out
  • Cleaning to be done in the living space
  • Instructions for businesses
  • Instructions for co-ownerships
  • Instructions to follow in the event of an alert
  • The list of cyclone shelters
  • Instructions to follow in a shelter

The collectivité is preparing and invites you to take into account the arrival of the next hurricane season and reminds you of the need to prepare in advance to be ready in the event of a hurricane alert.

The University of Colorado is predicting a hyperactive season in the Atlantic, with 23 storms, 11 of which will become hurricanes and 5 of which will become major hurricanes. These are forecasts for now, but it is important to stay informed and vigilant.
