Tourism employs a significant proportion of the population and generates significant revenue for the island. However, it is difficult to give an accurate estimate of the weight of tourism as the influence of this sector impacts many other economic sectors such as transport or trade. This sector faces many challenges, including catching up on pre-Irma activity and rebuilding the supply. Today, it is a question of enabling the upgrading of the supply of tourist accommodation on the territory by promoting a transition to sustainable tourism. This transition must also be accompanied by targeted actions to promote the destination and by developing the supply of tourist services and activities. Indeed, given the competitive environment of tourism in the Caribbean, the economic and public stakeholders of the island are considering renewing their tourism promotion campaigns, in particular through marketing campaigns aimed at tour operators and the general public. In addition, the organization of festivals to attract tourists and showcase the island&#39;s cultural heritage is also being considered. The objective is to support the effort to modernize and upgrade the hotel offering in the region through targeted actions to promote the destination. The development of the range of services and activities aimed at tourist customers must also support the transition to modern high-end tourism.
