Drought and fire risk

For several weeks, the Saint-Martin firefighters have been called to intervene on brush fires. The drought of plants combined with episodes of strong wind represents a real danger for the risk of fire.
Saint-Martin is currently subject to a lack of precipitation and an increasingly severe drought. High temperatures and dry soil and vegetation are conducive to fire outbreaks.
The population is invited to observe simple precautions. Cigarette butts should not be thrown away, especially along roadsides and hedges or bushes. Precautions for use are necessary for barbecues. In particular, they must be carried out in a protected area, away from vegetation and with a means of extinction nearby. Burning is prohibited in gardens and fields during periods of drought.
The community of Saint-Martin therefore invites the population to exercise the greatest vigilance.
