Hurricane Season: Let’s Get Ready! The cycling season

Hurricane season: Let's be ready!

The hurricane season officially starts on June 1 and ends on November 30, 2017. Each year it is important to remember the preparation instructions and the actions to follow for our safety and it is in this sense that the Community is already inviting you to verify your material and food reserves, prepare and protect your home, remove or secure any object that may be transform into a projectile.

This year the Community and the Prefecture will organize several operational meetings between the services and actors of the same sector of intervention in order, not only to establish the list of human and material resources for our available, but also to effectively discuss the organization before, during and after the passage of a phenomenon.

Also, President Daniel GIBBS and his team will carry out a major cleaning operation in all the neighborhoods at the end of June. This action to improve the living environment at the very beginning of the hurricane season is necessary in the event of a meteorological event sometimes leading to the accumulation of very large quantities of waste.

The Community of Saint-Martin asks you to kindly help keep the island clean and advises you to start pruning and cutting plants now in anticipation of a possible cyclonic phenomenon. It will be everyone's responsibility to then take all necessary measures to evacuate green waste, bulky waste and any other waste that could be dangerous in the event of strong winds, to the Galisbay recycling center or the Grandes Cayes eco-site in Cul de Sac.

We appeal to the good citizenship and sense of responsibility of everyone involved in the implementation of this cleaning. No illegal dumping can be tolerated following the announcement of the warning of a cyclone.

The Collectivity of Saint-Martin thanks you for your contribution and your understanding.
