May 20, 2016President Aline Hanson presided on Friday 20
The President Aline Hanson chaired, Friday May 20, 2016, the major annual meeting to prepare for the 2016 hurricane season. The season begins on June 1 and ends on November 30, 2016, the President wanted to bring together all the stakeholders security and prevention of natural risks to discuss the organization before, during and after the passage of a hurricane.
The prefect Anne Laubies was alongside the President and the services of the state and the community were able to take stock of the needs. “Throughout the hurricane season, we will have to communicate so that everyone prepares, cleans their property and stocks up on basic necessities, so as not to be caught off guard,” said the President.
The community's natural risk management unit which supervises prevention is represented by territorial advisor Louis Fleming, and led by technician Charlotte Terrac.
“Prevention and preparation are essential, and I already invites the population to mobilize to better protect themselves", concluded the President.
Within a few days, the community will communicate to the population the list of cyclone shelters, and the instructions for confronting a cyclonic phenomenon.
Note that the community has produced a Territorial Information Document on Major Risks (DITRIM). This booklet is a communication tool for the population. It has been distributed in schools and strategic locations on the island since October 2015.
