Interim President Guillaume Arnell received the press, Friday October 9, 2015, during the Internal Security Days in Marigot, in order to present to the population the Territorial Information Document on Major Risks (DITRIM) produced by the Community of Saint-Martin. This prevention document is accompanied by a small booklet bringing together the prevention and relief measures to be observed, which will be distributed in 40,000 copies.
As a preamble to his remarks, President Arnell recalled that This initiative by the Community took place within the framework of respecting the citizen's right to preventive information initiated at the national level. It is with this specific perspective that the Major Risk Management Unit of the Community, represented by the territorial advisor Louis Fleming, and led by the department manager Charlotte Terrac, has developed the Territorial Information Document on Major Risks ( DITRIM) in French and English, and its booklet of prevention and relief measures. An initiative particularly supported by President Aline Hanson, keen to prevent and protect the population.
As Mr. Arnell also mentioned to the media, “this document aims to inform the inhabitants of Saint-Martin on the natural and technological risks to which they are subject and the prevention, protection and safeguarding measures responding to these risks."
Friday morning, 265 booklets were distributed, including 135 to schoolchildren. The booklets were given to the teachers of the schools present for additional teaching in class before the distribution of the support to the students.
Civil security, in general, is responsible for the prevention of risks of all kinds, information and warning of populations as well as the protection of people, property and the environment. This annual meeting of security meetings is therefore the perfect place to launch the distribution of the very first booklets ahead of a much wider distribution to the Saint-Martin population between now and November. It will then be possible to find the booklet (Fr/An) in all local institutions and in strategic locations in Saint-Martin.
