Message of condolences and support to the Bahamas from the Territorial President of Saint Martin

September 05, 2019

The inhabitants of the ABACOS and GRAND BAHAMA islands come

The inhabitants of the ABACOS and GRAND BAHAMA islands have just suffered the destructive effects of Hurricane DORIAN, the most powerful cyclonic phenomenon ever recorded in the Bahamas archipelago.

I send all my support for the inhabitants and authorities of the Bahamas who are going through very difficult times. The elected officials of the Territorial Council of Saint-Martin join me in sending our most sincere condolences to the families who lost a loved one, as well as to Prime Minister Hubert MINNIS and his government.

Two years ago today, Saint-Martin suffered the same destructive experience with the passage of Hurricane IRMA and we know how difficult it is to rebuild after such a disaster. The days following the passage of a major hurricane are particularly trying. All our thoughts are with the inhabitants of the islands who suffered the wrath of Dorian and who are currently in a state of emergency. The time for reconstruction will come next, it is a complex ordeal, which requires patience and self-sacrifice, I know that the inhabitants of the Bahamas Islands will be able to find the necessary resources to get back up and rebuild their archipelago even more beautiful and stronger!

On behalf of the people of Saint Martin, I wish the inhabitants of the Bahamas the strength and courage necessary to overcome this terrible ordeal.

Our solidarity with the Bahamas is total, Saint-Martin will contribute when the time comes through official channels, to help the affected inhabitants.

The people of Saint-Martin are wholeheartedly with their brothers and sisters of the Bahamas Islands. ".
