Childhood and families: Training of social workers and psychologists to support children

February 05, 2025

The Solidarity, Health and Families Delegation of the Saint-Martin Collectivité is organizing training for social workers and psychologists from the Childhood and Families Department and for doctors, pediatric nurses, and midwives from the Maternal and Child Protection (PMI), around the project for the child. This training is carried out in two sessions.

The first training session will take place from February 5 to 7, 2025, and the second from February 11 to 13, 2025. This training follows the training organized in November 2024, on the global assessment of the situation of children in danger or at risk of danger.

This new session aims to guarantee the safety and coherence of the child's journey in the field of child protection, ensuring the quality of the continuum, from the initial assessment to the development of the project for the child.

Local government agents working in this sector will be trained in the implementation of this public policy, in order to acquire the skills necessary to assess the child's situation and then develop a comprehensive project.

One of the objectives of the Solidarity Health and Families Delegation, through its Childhood and Families Department, is to provide a working methodology to respond as closely as possible to the needs of the children entrusted to the Collectivité of St Martin. It is a question of working in project mode around the child and thus being able to measure the impact of the policies implemented, in particular through action plans as well as the evaluation of the protection measures implemented.

The training is provided by the Institute of Psychoeducation and co-financed by the European Union.
