“I was very moved to learn of the death of young Alvin, 24 years old, victim of a road accident on the RN7, near Mont Vernon, Friday November 22 in the evening. A tragic road accident which leaves a Saint-Martin family and our entire community in mourning. Our sincere condolences and support accompany this family in their grief, in particular the father of the victim, who works within our institution and to whom I send all my comfort.

The exact circumstances of the accident are not yet known, they will be established by the gendarmerie investigation which has just been carried out. While waiting to understand the circumstances of this accident, I can only at this stage reiterate to our fellow citizens a message of caution on the road, particularly when they are traveling on two wheels, which makes them even more vulnerable.

Safeguarding yourself, respecting speed limits and wearing a helmet on every journey, even the shortest, seem essential to me. Life is precious, caution must be exercised in all circumstances.

My vice-president Valérie Damaseau, in charge of Youth, as well as all the elected officials of the Territorial Council of Saint-Martin, join me in sending our saddened condolences as well as all our support to the family and loved ones of young Alvin; he was a serious young man and appreciated by everyone. His premature death is a painful ordeal for his family and for our community. »
