Reconstruction of the Collège de Quartier d’Orléans: A project supported by European funding
As part of the reconstruction of Saint-Martin after the devastating passage of Hurricane Irma, the Collectivité de Saint-Martin has launched an ambitious project: the reconstruction of the Collège de Quartier d'Orléans. This project, of capital importance for the education of the island's young people, is largely supported by European funds.
An investment in the educational and resilient future of Saint-Martin
The reconstruction project of the Collège de Quartier d'Orléans aims to create a modern establishment, respectful of environmental standards and capable of withstanding natural hazards. With a surface area of 5,507 m², the college will accommodate approximately 600 students and 70 staff members. It will be equipped to improve academic performance, particularly for sick or disabled children, while paving the way for new training courses. The development of digital technology and sports practice will also play a central role.
Major support from Europe and the State
The total funding for the project amounts to €8,855,000 , of which €5,225,395 is provided by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). This support demonstrates Europe's commitment to supporting the resilience and reconstruction of essential infrastructure in Saint-Martin. In addition, the State contributes €3,155,000 , while the Collectivité self-finances the remainder, i.e. €474,605 .
Calendar and outlook
The work, which began in June 2019, is due to continue until the end of 2023. This project is part of priority axis 12.1 , which focuses on compliance with standards in the face of natural risks, a crucial issue for ensuring the sustainability of infrastructure in Saint-Martin.
This reconstruction project of the Collège de Quartier d'Orléans symbolizes the commitment of the Collectivité and its partners to offer the youth of Saint-Martin a secure, modern and resilient educational environment.
