College 900 in La Savane: progress report on construction work

Having recently arrived in the area, Prefect Cyrille Le Vely wanted to visit the construction site of Collège 900 to see for himself the work in progress. The teams from Semsamar, the project owner, GTM, the project manager, and the Artelia design office, presented the progress of the construction site.

With a surface area of 5400m2, equipped with a 2000m2 indoor gymnasium, 31 classrooms, a refectory, a multimedia documentation center, a parking lot and 4 staff accommodations, the 900 college is a large-scale project.

Fully connected, built according to earthquake-resistant rules, equipped with natural cross-ventilation, this college will also have 200m2 of photovoltaic panels and will be able to accommodate a 600-place cyclone shelter.

The building is made of 8000m3 of concrete and was built in 12 months. Currently, 150 workers are working on this site, of which 15,000 hours are dedicated to social integration clauses for young people looking for work.

The project still requires several months of work to complete the operational installations and the road development from the RN7 road. In total, this project amounts to €42 million, financed by the State, Europe and the Collectivité de Saint-Martin.

A new progress report and the retrospective planning will be presented next June, for a return to school scheduled for the last quarter of 2025.
