Parenting assistance is a child protection measure implemented by the Collectivité de Saint-Martin. It aims to support minors and their families without separating them from their family environment, in order to prevent dangerous situations or worsening difficulties. This approach prioritizes maintaining family ties while providing appropriate support to ensure the child's well-being and development.
Objectives of Open Environment Education
Prevent dangerous situations : Identify and intervene in situations likely to compromise the safety or development of the child. Support families : Offer educational support to help parents find their bearings and find solutions adapted to their difficulties. Promote the autonomy of young people : Support children and adolescents in their schooling, their social integration, and their personal development.
How does parenting support work within the framework of an open educational action?
AEMO is based on personalized and regular support from specialized educators.
These professionals intervene directly within the child's living environment to:
- Assess the family situation : identify the specific needs and difficulties of each family.
- Develop an educational project : set up a program of appropriate actions to strengthen parental skills and support the child.
- Ensure regular follow-up : maintain frequent contact with the family and educational partners (schools, social services, etc.).
- Promote social inclusion : facilitate access to local resources (academic support, sports or cultural activities) to encourage young people to become independent.
Who can benefit from AEMO?
The Open Environment Education Action is aimed at:
- To minors reported as being in difficulty or in danger but for whom placement is not necessary.
- For families going through crises or social, educational or financial difficulties.
AEMO measures are ordered by the juvenile judge or proposed by ASE services as part of an educational action at home.
Collectivité Commitment
The Collectivité de Saint-Martin, through its child protection services, is committed to strengthening parenting skills, protecting vulnerable children, and promoting educational solutions adapted to the needs of each family.
