Registration: what obligations?
All motor vehicles circulating in Saint-Martin (2, 3 or 4 wheels) must be registered according to the system in force. If you live in Sint Marteen, you must apply for registration with the Dutch authorities.

How much does a registration application cost?
- 2 or 3 wheels:
- Free for engine sizes below 125cc
- 18€ for 125cc less than 10 years old
- €9 for 125cc over 10 years old
- €36/horsepower for engine sizes over 125cc. - 4 wheels:
- €36/horsepower for vehicles less than 10 years old
- €18/horsepower for vehicles over 10 years old.
How long is a registration certificate valid?
The registration certificate (ex-gray card) is issued for the entire life of the vehicle. You must inform the Collectivité services of any change concerning the vehicle (theft, transfer, destruction or withdrawal from circulation).
Please note: the title is available for three months at the Traffic Title Service. After this period, it will be archived and you will have to request a duplicate.
What happens if I change vehicle or category?
The Saint-Martin registration system assigns a plate number to an individual and not to a vehicle.
If you change vehicle, you will keep the same registration provided that:
- The previous vehicle has not been stolen
- The transfer of the previous vehicle has been validly registered with the services of the Collectivité.
