First participation in the CHRIS investor fair as part of the reconstruction of Saint-Martin
President Daniel Gibbs represented Saint-Martin, Wednesday May 22, 2019, at the Caribbean Hotel & Resort Investment Summit (CHRIS) in Miami, exclusively dedicated to hotel investment in the Caribbean.
Around forty people participated in the first session dedicated to investment opportunities in Saint-Martin “Opportunities in Collectivity of St Martin”, late Wednesday morning. Investors have shown real interest in the restart of the tourist destination and its reconstruction phase. The President did not fail to recall the multiple socio-economic assets of the territory, particularly in terms of legal and institutional stability, and the investment opportunities that present themselves today, without hiding the problems linked to reconstruction. The President was widely praised for the work undertaken by the Community and its partners, private companies and individuals, since the passage of Irma, as well as for the development projects carried out by the territory as part of its reconstruction and the relaunch of the destination.
The second session dedicated to Saint-Martin “Views from the heads of Government”, created real enthusiasm and welcomed nearly 400 participants (investors, consultants, developers, promoters , etc..) came to learn about the opportunities offered by the islands of Saint-Martin and the Virgin Islands which held a joint session having suffered the hurricanes of September 2017.
President Gibbs took advantage of this constructive discussion space to answer the many questions on the reconstruction of the territory, but also on current and future investment projects.
The discussions took place was fruitful for Saint-Martin which aroused great interest from the audience. More than 80 contacts were initiated by the president and his team and will have to be followed up over the coming months by technicians from the Economic Development Center. Among these interviews, some are potential service providers or suppliers for Saint-Martin companies. A large number of investors showed a particular interest in Saint-Martin, whose development continues to attract just as much.
President Gibbs said he was very satisfied with this first participation in a trade fair linked to investment since September 2017, particularly in view of the interest of participants in Saint-Martin which remains an attractive territory in many respects.
