The community takes tax measures in favor of individuals and businesses

During the Executive Council of September 22, 2017, the Community took two major tax measures, in order to help individuals and businesses:
- A reduction in property tax was requested by the Community. Thus, individuals and businesses are exempt from paying this tax. For those who have already paid their property tax, they will be reimbursed by the Public Treasury without any further formality.

- The Community has also decided to suspend proceedings on taxes for 2017 and previous years for 12 months, i.e. until September 22, 2018 for individuals and businesses.

On the other hand, any taxation derived from the activity or income over the year 2018 will be due and may be subject to prosecution in the event of non-payment.
Please note, this suspension is not synonymous with cancellation of the tax debt of the taxpayers concerned. Consequently, the community invites all taxpayers to pay their arrears before the resumption of proceedings.
The public finance administrator of Saint-Martin (Public Treasury – Concordia) is at your disposal for a spreading of the payments.

Through these measures, the President, Daniel Gibbs, and the elected representatives of the Community wanted to support the population in a complicated social and economic context following the passage of Hurricane IRMA.
