The Community of Saint Martin led workshops on the European Social Fund (ESF

The Directorate of European Funds and Contractual Policies of the Saint-Martin Community led workshops aimed at institutional services, in order to inform territorial agents of the availability of ESF credits with regard to the 2014-European programming 2020, and in particular additional funds dedicated to the fight against the economic and social consequences of the COVID 19 pandemic. The objective being to consume these credits as quickly as possible.

The workshops organized at attention of institutional services were held on Wednesday April 14, 2021, a necessary and fruitful exchange towards FSE consumer services.

President Daniel GIBBS visited the system and greeted the Funds Department European and Contractual Policies, its Director Rodrigue Angely and his team, for this transversal initiative.

The sum of 11 million euros is, in fact, available by 2023, including 8 million euros under the REACT EU initiative of the Post Covid19 Recovery Plan, initiated by Europe. These workshops were an opportunity for the officials present to read the results of the 2014-2020 FSE programming and to receive an update on the progress of the projects which will be co-financed by Europe thanks to REACT EU credits. In-depth work was carried out by the services of the Community, in partnership with the State, in order to target the most urgent actions.

To date, the Community has benefited from more than 10 million euros in ESF subsidies under the 2014-2020 program. The institution used these European envelopes to finance public policies in favor of youth and the training of unemployed people: higher education scholarships, job-vacation schemes and territorial programming of professional training dedicated to job seekers. .

Public policies today well anchored in the territorial action carried out by the Collectivity of Saint-Martin, which dedicates these credits to citizens in difficulty and to young people. This first initiative was a great success, it will be repeated every year.
