National Days of Action Against Illiteracy in Saint-Martin
The 11th edition of the National Days of Action against Illiteracy took place from September 8 to 15, 2024. Saint-Martin is part of this dynamic in light of the needs identified in the territory, in particular through specific training actions. With the financial support of the Collectivité de Saint-Martin, the Jielle Formation center conducted several training sessions in this area and inaugurated, last Wednesday, September 18, its new premises in the Orléans district, in the presence of territorial councilor Martine BELDOR.
Act locally through training activities!
Mrs. Martine BELDOR, territorial councilor in charge of professional training, visited the site on Wednesday, September 18, to praise the work carried out by Jielle Formation and inaugurate the new premises installed in Quartier d'Orléans.
The training courses initiated as part of the fight against illiteracy are contextualized with the professions of the blue economy and green growth and the professions of tourism, commerce and multi-sectors. Out of 40 learners registered for the 2023-2024 sessions, 15 people were able to access employment at the end of their training.
" This is a very encouraging result for the learners and very positive for our region ," says Martine BELDOR, who is closely following the progress of these refresher courses.
Among the learners, the example of the young intern Bertlyn CHERALDINI is significant. She attended the Jielle FORMATION session entitled "Fight Against Illiteracy Contextualized with the Professions of the Blue Economy and Green Growth", from December 18, 2023 to June 28, 2024; i.e. 660 hours of training including 210 hours in the company.
She was thus able to complete her immersion at VERDE SXM in March 2024, then within the Environment department of the Collectivité of Saint-Martin. Fascinated by " the world of sorting and recycling ", the intern has produced numerous visual aids including a sorting awareness video.
Bertlyn has found her calling and plans to become a recycling ambassador in Saint-Martin and thus contribute to the sustainable preservation of her island. Having obtained the C1 level in FLE (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), Berlyn will be able to continue her journey by moving towards qualifying training in the environmental field, which will then allow her to focus her job search on sorting and recycling professions. Jielle Formation will follow her until she finds employment.
For Martine BELDOR, Bertlyn CHERALDINI's training course is a concrete example of qualification and integration through vocational training. The support of training organizations is crucial support; this is why the Collectivité de Saint-Martin, through its Training, Skills, Employment department, is working to strengthen public policies for vocational training as much as necessary. A policy carried out with the support of the European Social Fund (ESF).
