2024 Island Games: The Saint-Martin delegation has arrived in Corsica
The Collectivité of Saint-Martin is participating, for the second time, in the Island Games, a major multi-sport competition, which takes place in Porto Vecchio, in Corsica.
Proudly represent the territory
The Saint-Martin team led by the territorial councillor responsible for sports, Mr Marc G Ménard and the president of the Olympic sports committee of the Northern Islands, the CTOS, the elected representative Alain Gros-Désormais, is ready to face the other islands in the different sporting disciplines included in the games.
Our athletes are determined to give their best and to proudly represent their territory. If last year in the absence of an Olympic and sports committee the CEES of Saint-Martin had to organize the first participation as a guest, this year it was the CTOS that organized the event while Saint Martin has since become a member of the COJI.
Our representatives compete in 5 disciplines (football, basketball, tennis, gymnastics and athletics).
Collecting the first medals
Wednesday May 21 marked the start of the competitions and for Saint Matin, it was the opportunity to collect the first medals including a 3rd place for KENNEDY HODGE Jahiem in the shot put and a very nice 1st place in the women's 100m won by CHANEL RICHARDSON.
Congratulations on these great performances!
Promote sport and strengthen links with other regional islands
Football and basketball also made a good start with 2 wins and 1 loss for basketball and a draw against Sardinia in football.
The delegation will return to Saint Martin on May 27.
