François Baroin, President of the AMF, visiting Saint-Martin

President Daniel Gibbs received, this Friday, April 12, Mr. François Baroin, president of the Association of Mayors of France (AMF), currently traveling in the Antilles.
The AMF was strongly mobilized in the aftermath of Irma to collect cash donations from French municipalities and make a global contribution to the reconstruction of Saint-Martin.
€364,000 was collected and officially given to the community of Saint-Martin in May 2018 by the association of Mayors of Martinique and Guadeloupe. This sum had been earmarked for the reconstruction of educational establishments.
This visit was an opportunity to take stock of the situation on the reconstruction in the presence of the prefect Sylvie Feucher and to discuss crisis management after a phenomenon major. A sensitive subject for municipalities which must also prepare to face large-scale climatic events.
