Father’s Day Speech 2016 – President Aline Hanson

Ladies and gentlemen elected officials of the Community,
Ladies and gentlemen representatives of the neighborhoods,
Ladies and gentlemen,

Hello, everyone,
< br />Welcome to this Father's Day ceremony, organized by the community of Saint-Martin, in partnership with the neighborhood councils.

I thank you all for your presence among us.
/>
Celebrating the fathers of families always has a special connotation for us in Saint-Martin, because in our society more than elsewhere, the father is an essential link in education.

In today's Saint-Martin this balance is sometimes lacking, and we have too many single-parent families and mothers forced to raise their children alone.

This is why I would like to send a message to fathers by telling them that it is never too late to take charge of the education of your children and help them move forward in life.
Quite recently, the community created “The Parents’ School” as part of the Local Security and Delinquency Prevention Council (CLSPD).

It is with this system to support parents who have difficulties with their parental authority. We saw it again this week (armed robbery in Baie Nettlé), certain acts of delinquency committed by young people without reference, cause trouble and give a very negative image of Saint-Martin.

It is all together, at our respective levels, that we must act to stem acts of violence.

Fortunately we have in Saint-Martin very good fathers, who are involved within the family.

To show our people that some of our fathers are an example for our community, we asked the district councils to select 6 fathers who gave a very good education to their children.

I would like you to welcome:

- M. Dennys Leroy HYMAN, from district n°1
- Mr. Léonard LARMONY from district n°2
- Mr. Georges Apollinaire GOMBS from district n°3
- Mr. Jean Albert MINVILLE from district n°4
- Mr. Laurent Joseph MINVILLE from district n°5
- Mr. Clément VAN HEYNINGEN from district n°6.

Today we are going to celebrate your commitment and your involvement in the education of your children.

You have been a role model for them. Your children could count on you to build their own lives. This is precisely what our community needs to go forward.

I often repeat, a structured family environment, with a loving and attentive mother and father is the key to a successful education. I add that the authority of the father is fundamental because it is a benchmark for the child.

Today it is you gentlemen who are sending a strong sign to all the other dads of Saint- Martin. I salute your commitment, happy father’s day to all the fathers of Saint-Martin.
Thank you.

Celebration of Father's Day:

In partnership with neighborhood councils, six exemplary fathers were honored for their journey and the education given to their children by the Community of Saint-Martin, in the presence of the President Aline Hanson, the vice-president Rosette Gumbs-Lake, the elected official in charge of Culture Rollande Questel, and the elected Jean-Philippe Richardson.

In her speech, the President spoke of the importance of the father in family balance and recalled that it was never too late to 39;involve in the education of his children. She praised the deserving journey of these six fathers and wished a very happy Father's Day to all the dads in Saint-Martin. Members of the territorial youth council were present.
