Commemoration of May 8, 2017
The Saint-Martin authorities gathered in front of the Saint-Martin War Memorial on Monday, May 8, to commemorate the victory of the Allies over Nazi Germany and the end of the Second World War, on May 8, 1945. Everywhere in France, this national commemoration, which marks the 72nd anniversary of the German capitulation, was an opportunity to exercise a collective duty of memory.
Surrounded by elected officials from the Territorial Council, members of the Junior Territorial Council, veterans and flag bearers, the Prefect Anne Laubies, delegate of the communities of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, the President of the community Daniel Gibbes and the Senator of Saint-Martin Guillaume Arnell, laid a wreath of flowers in tribute to the victims of this global conflict
