Commemoration of the Armistice of the First World War

The commemoration of the Armistice of the First World War was celebrated on Thursday, November 10, 2016, as part of a protocol ceremony organized near the Marigot War Memorial.

In the presence of the Veterans of Saint-Martin and the Flag Bearers, the Prefect Anne Laubies, the deputy for Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, Daniel Gibbs, the senator for Saint-Martin, Guillaume Arnell and the president of the territorial council, Aline Hanson, paid tribute to those who died for France.
At the end of the solemn tribute, the little singers of the La Martine school choir sang the Marseillaise before to continue with the Creole anthem once sung by the overseas fighters. More than 5,000 of them fell for France during the Great War.
