169th Commemoration of the Abolition of Slavery

Prefect Anne Laubiès and President Daniel Gibbes inform the population that the date of the commemoration of the abolition of slavery is maintained this year on Saturday May 27, 2017.

The commemoration takes place this year will be held as usual near the Lady Liberty statue in Agrément. The population is cordially invited to follow this commemoration which will begin at 9 a.m., Saturday May 27, 2017 (public holiday in the Antilles).
The territory is still awaiting the legislative modification which will officially record the change of date to May 28, the historic date of the abolition of slavery in the territory of Saint-Martin.
