Infrastructure and mobility

The major projects, urban space and mobility department is responsible for the planning and implementation of major urban projects, the development of public space and the management of mobility in Saint-Martin.

The Collectivité is mobilizing for the digitalization and development of digital infrastructures in Saint-Martin. In collaboration with the Banque des Territoires, it initiated the Tintamarre project in 2017 which aims to bury the island&#39;s telecommunications network, which was previously aerial and almost entirely destroyed by the passage of Hurricane Irma. An approach which intends to provide the island with infrastructure adapted to local climate issues and to reduce the digital divide in the territory by covering 100% of Saint-Martin households with very high speed compared to 16% before works.

New measures have been introduced to improve the organization of public transport on the island. Their goals? Fight against the activity of undeclared taxis and offer better service to users through several initiatives, including: - better signage at stops - systematic service to the Marigot bus station by all lines - a standardized price list.

In addition to helping to finance thermal renovation projects and the construction of a new administrative city in Concordia, the France Relance program supports several initiatives aimed at improving the region&#39;s infrastructure, thanks in particular to: - improvement of drinking water and sanitation networks (1 million euros) - the sustainable modernization of waste recovery in Saint-Martin (2 million euros) - the modernization of the Saint-Martin slaughterhouses (500,000 euros) - the ecological and landscape reconquest of the Chevrise and Barrière ponds (200,000 euros).
